Verbs to Express Body Movement in English
Verbs of Body Movement | Video
- Walk – to move or go somewhere by putting one foot in front of the other on the ground, but without running
- March – to walk somewhere quickly in a determined way
- Run – to move using your legs, going faster than when you walk
- Crawl– to move forward on your hands and knees, with your body close to the ground
- Tiptoe – standing or walking on the front part of your foot, with your heels off the ground, in order to make yourself taller or to move very quietly
- Pull – to hold something firmly and use force in order to move it or try to move it towards yourself
- Drag – to pull somebody/something along with effort and difficulty
- Push – to use your hands, arms or body in order to make somebody/something move forward or away from you; to move part of your body into a particular position
- Jump – to move quickly off the ground or away from a surface by pushing yourself with your legs and feet
- Leap – to jump high or a long way
- Hop – to move by jumping on one foot
- Skip – to move forwards lightly and quickly making a little jump with each step
stretch – to make something longer, wider or looser, for example by pulling it; to become longer - Hold – to carry something; to have somebody/something in your hand, arms, etc.

- Slap – use your open hand to hit someone or something
- Punch – use your closed hand (fist) to hit someone or something
- Rip – tear something using both hands
